122nd Philippine Independence Day in the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas
IN HONOR OF ANGELES CITY’S HEALTH WORKERS, FRONTLINERS ON INDEPENDENCE DAY. The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., on Friday morning, June 12, 2020, commemorates the 122nd Philippine Independence Day in the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas.
Mayor Lazatin dedicates the celebration in honor of the city’s health workers, frontliners, and backliners fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines Board says the 1st Philippine Independence was celebrated at the Holy Rosary Church atrium on June 12, 1899, based on new information published in La Independencia, a revolutionary newspaper founded by Gen. Antonio Luna.
Present during the simple and short ceremonies to mark the 122nd Philippine Independence Day are Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas Curator Ms. Bettina Arriola, Rural Health Unit Dr. Verona Guevarra, Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui, Otu David from City Council, members of the Environment Management System, officers from the Angeles City Police Office, and officials from the Bureau of Fire Protection.
